Ferrari returned to the top step of the podium at Silverstone, producing a memorable performance to win the 2026 British Grand Prix and once again defeat Mercedes on home soil. Former Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene praised the Scuderia’s outstanding display and reserved special words for Charles Leclerc after the Monegasque driver’s long-awaited victory at the iconic British circuit.
Ferrari shines once again at Silverstone
Just as it did in 2018, Ferrari conquered the British Grand Prix at Silverstone by getting the better of Mercedes. Back then, Sebastian Vettel overtook Valtteri Bottas in the closing stages to secure victory. This time, the race unfolded differently, with a technical issue ending Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s challenge, allowing Charles Leclerc to finally celebrate his first Formula 1 victory at Silverstone after coming so close in both 2021 and 2022.
Speaking as a guest on Race Anatomy on Sky, former Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene expressed his delight at the result.
“It’s a great day because winning at their home is always something special,” Maurizio Arrivabene said.
Words of praise for Charles Leclerc
Arrivabene also highlighted Charles Leclerc’s resilience, praising the Ferrari driver for overcoming a difficult spell and returning to winning ways with a performance that has reignited his Formula 1 title hopes.
“I know Charles well, he’s someone who never gives up. He has been through a difficult period, but we have to believe in him because he’s strong,” Arrivabene added.
With his Silverstone triumph, Charles Leclerc has put a challenging phase behind him and taken an important step forward in the championship standings, giving Ferrari fresh momentum as the 2026 Formula 1 season continues.
