After hinting at a possible departure from Scuderia Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton has taken a step back and reaffirmed his commitment to the team, stating that he remains highly motivated and determined to bounce back.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion had sparked serious concern among Ferrari fans following his comments during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. At the Hungaroring circuit, Lewis Hamilton appeared visibly frustrated after another disappointing performance in what has been a very challenging first part of the 2025 Formula 1 season for both the British driver and the Italian team. The lack of consistent results—marked by very few highs and numerous lows—during his first 14 races as a Ferrari driver has even made Lewis Hamilton himself question the direction of this new chapter in his career.
Throughout the Budapest weekend, Hamilton, who races under number 44, made several remarks that many interpreted as hints at an imminent split with the Maranello-based team. Among the most alarming phrases were, “Ferrari should change driver” and “There are bad things happening behind the scenes.” These statements immediately set off alarm bells for Ferrari fans around the world and suggested serious discontent within the team environment.
However, those words were likely fueled by frustration and the emotional aftermath of another difficult race weekend. They should be considered within the context of the immediate post-race interviews, when emotions are often still running high.
A few hours after the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Ferrari released a press statement that painted a very different picture of Lewis Hamilton’s mindset. In this official communication, the Briton appeared far more composed and forward-looking. He acknowledged the team’s ongoing struggles but also stressed his determination to turn things around.
“It was a difficult weekend that I want to leave behind as quickly as possible,” said Lewis Hamilton in the statement. “We didn’t manage to make the progress we were hoping for, but I am grateful for all the hard work and effort the team has put in throughout the weekend. Now the summer break is here. I’ll use this time to recharge, reset, and come back stronger. I’m not yet where I want to be, but the battle is not over. I’m not giving up.”
These words signal a clear change in tone and confirm that Lewis Hamilton is not planning to abandon his Ferrari project anytime soon. Despite the many obstacles encountered in the first half of the season, the British driver remains fully focused on improving performance and making a success of his time at Maranello.
With the summer break providing an opportunity for reflection and recovery, Lewis Hamilton appears determined to return to action in the second half of the 2025 Formula 1 championship with renewed energy and focus. The next race after the break will take place at Zandvoort, where Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari will hope to show signs of progress.
