Through an official statement published across its social media platforms, the management of the Dutch circuit at Zandvoort has addressed the concerns that had emerged earlier in the morning regarding the state of the track.
Heavy Rain and Widespread Concerns
Between late yesterday evening and the early hours of this morning, several images circulated widely on social media platforms, quickly going viral and sparking worry among motorsport fans. The photos seemed to show critical and concerning conditions at the Zandvoort circuit following heavy rainfall that had hit the region. Certain sections of the Dutch racetrack—which is scheduled to be removed from the Formula 1 World Championship calendar starting with the 2027 season—appeared to be flooded, with streams of muddy water flowing across parts of the surface.
Circuit Officials Dismiss Rumors and Confirm F1 Academy Test Sessions Are Underway
However, later in the afternoon, an official update was released by the Zandvoort circuit via its verified social media accounts. In this statement, the rumors of extensive damage to the circuit—which had even led some to question whether the Dutch Grand Prix, scheduled for the weekend of August 31, would go ahead—were firmly rejected and labeled as “fake news.”
The update clarified that, contrary to the speculation, the circuit was not only fully intact and undamaged but was already active. In fact, earlier in the day, the track had successfully hosted a scheduled testing session for the F1 Academy—Formula 1’s all-female support series—without experiencing any delays or technical issues.
“The heavy rainfall that occurred yesterday triggered several fake news stories suggesting supposed damage to the circuit,” the official statement from Zandvoort’s management reads. “Early this morning, our team conducted a full inspection of the entire track and confirmed there was no damage and no delay to any planned activity. The surface is dry, clean, and 100% ready to be used. In fact, the F1 Academy took to the track as scheduled this morning for its programmed test sessions without any complications. All sessions are running exactly as planned.”
The swift and transparent response from the Zandvoort circuit aims to reassure fans, teams, and stakeholders that the venue is in perfect condition and fully prepared to host both upcoming events and the Dutch Grand Prix later this summer.
