F1 | Kimi Antonelli acknowledges his error in the collision with Charles Leclerc
Kimi Antonelli has acknowledged making a mistake in the collision with Charles Leclerc and, after the Dutch Grand Prix, went to Ferrari to personally apologize.
Following Lewis Hamilton’s retirement, Ferrari saw Charles Leclerc also retire early from the race due to an incident caused by Kimi Antonelli’s error. The Italian driver later admitted his responsibility and went directly to the Italian team to offer his apologies.
In footage captured by DAZN cameras, Mercedes car number 12 can be seen leaving the Ferrari motorhome alongside Team Principal Fred Vasseur. It is highly likely that Antonelli wanted to apologize directly to the Team Principal and the rest of the squad for what happened on track.

Kimi Antonelli later reiterated this during post-race interviews, commenting on the incident with Leclerc. “The mistake was definitely mine because I caused the contact. I attempted the overtake and at one point I was even alongside him. I did not expect him to come down so quickly from the banking, but when I saw it, I tried to let him pass without forcing the move. Unfortunately, there was contact, and I apologize to Charles, to Ferrari, and also to my team,” the young Mercedes driver said.
