F1 | Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc responds to Antonelli incident: “He definitely made a mistake”
At the conclusion of the Dutch Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc took stock of Ferrari’s weekend, reflecting on everything from the collision with Kimi Antonelli to his overtake on George Russell, while looking ahead to the possibility of a win at Monza.
It was not an easy weekend for Scuderia Ferrari. Charles Leclerc knows this well, and after the Dutch GP, he shared his thoughts on the team’s performance: from the incident with Antonelli to the daring move on Russell, and even the hopes for a victory at Monza.
Leclerc’s words after the race
Interviewed following the Zandvoort race, Charles Leclerc did not hold back regarding what happened on track. “The thing I regret the most is the incident with Kimi. Because until the race is over, you can still believe. Today, however, it ended sooner than I hoped, so I am disappointed. I haven’t reviewed the incident yet, but it is certainly his mistake. On this track, you definitely need to be very sharp and aggressive to make overtakes, but inside Turn 3 it was perhaps a bit too difficult,” the Monegasque driver said.
Regarding the overtake on George Russell, Ferrari’s car number 16 is confident in his actions. “I do not expect a penalty. I have to be aggressive since we are fighting for second place in the Constructors’ Championship with Mercedes. But yes, I would do the same thing again in other situations.”
Now attention turns to the Italian Grand Prix, where both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will have the support of thousands of fans. “The energy at Monza is always positive, especially after a weekend like this. Will it help us win? I don’t know, I hope so. Right now, I want to forget this race.”
