Umberto Zapelloni disheartened: “Ferrari, another Sunday to forget”
Umberto Zapelloni commented on the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix on his TopSpeed blog and during the Sky Race Anatomy broadcast.
The journalist highlighted that Ferrari’s “double zero in the standings hasn’t happened since last year’s Canadian Grand Prix,” and that an extremely negative weekend like Zandvoort only serves to “confirm that this is not the year” for the Scuderia.
Zapelloni’s comments on the race
Focusing particularly on Lewis Hamilton’s mistake, Zapelloni noted: “Lewis is showing and demonstrating things we would never have expected from a seven-time world champion. On top of that, his off-track excursion triggered the Safety Car, ruining Charles Leclerc’s race just as he had returned to change tires.”
He went on to praise Charles Leclerc for “not getting discouraged” and for executing, on George Russell at Turn 12, “an applause-worthy overtake from another era.”
Regarding Kimi Antonelli’s error, which effectively ended the Monegasque driver’s race, Umberto Zapelloni remarked: “It was a simple case of over-aggression from Kimi, but after all, we [Race Anatomy analysts] had also asked him to take more risks.”
Another Sunday to forget
According to Umberto Zapelloni, the Dutch Grand Prix was simply “another Sunday to forget” for Ferrari fans. One could add that it is certainly one of many “Sundays to forget” experienced by the Scuderia’s supporters since 2008.
