Ferrari: Charles Leclerc dedicates Monza helmet to Niki Lauda
Charles Leclerc has revealed the helmet he will wear at the Italian Grand Prix, paying a strong tribute to the design used by Niki Lauda on the day he won his first world championship at Monza.
A special tribute in a challenging season
Despite a difficult season, Ferrari has found inspiration to arrive at the Italian Grand Prix — the home race after Imola — with a new livery dedicated to Niki Lauda’s first Drivers’ World Championship. This afternoon, Charles Leclerc aligned with his team to unveil the colors of the helmet he will wear starting from the first practice session at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
Design inspired by Lauda
The Ferrari driver chose to honor Niki Lauda with a helmet clearly inspired by the three-time Formula 1 world champion, who left a lasting mark on Ferrari’s history. Charles Leclerc’s helmet removes the white that usually accompanies the red to form the Monegasque flag, keeping only the signature Ferrari red. The helmet will be entirely red, with subtle details resembling Lauda’s iconic design.
The name and surname appear on the sides of the helmet in white, using the same font as Niki Lauda’s helmet. The prancing horse emblem is present on the front, but instead of the Scuderia logo, it mirrors the one found on Ferrari road cars and at the Maranello factory on Via dell’Abetone Inferiore.
Charles Leclerc’s number is displayed on the top of the helmet inside a white number plate, crossed by a thin tricolor stripe. Another notable detail is the base red color, which is darker and metallic compared to the classic shade used by the Monegasque in most other events this season.
Vintage livery for Monza
Today, Ferrari also revealed the SF-25 livery for the Monza weekend. The design is clearly vintage-inspired, closely resembling the 312 T, the car that triumphed at Monza with Clay Regazzoni and saw Niki Lauda win his first Formula 1 world championship with a third-place finish on the legendary Italian track.
