The start of the 2025 Formula 1 season for the Prancing Horse has certainly not lived up to expectations. Ahead of the championship, Ferrari was seen as a title contender. The arrival of Lewis Hamilton, along with the optimism and hopes sparked by a promising 2024, had led fans to believe that 2025 could be the year of a title comeback. However, Ferrari has emerged from the first seven races of the season significantly downgraded. Now, the team is tasked with “unlocking potential” through updates, including the long-awaited new suspension.
From Melbourne to Imola, the much-hyped duo from Maranello have spent hours both on track and in the simulator chasing that long-sought-after feeling with an underwhelming SF-25. From the Fiorano garage at the beginning of 2025 came a car with a potential as unknown as it is elusive. The new Ferrari even brought team principal Fred Vasseur to revive the infamous “we need to understand” phrase, reminiscent of Mattia Binotto, which Ferrari fans had hoped never to hear again.
Fourth in the F1 constructors’ standings and trailing McLaren by 165 points, the Scuderia must now roll up its sleeves. Often struggling in slow corners and rarely able to manage tyres effectively—especially in qualifying—the SF-25 will soon be equipped with a new rear suspension.
Ferrari Updates: New Suspension Expected at Silverstone
Ferrari plans to introduce updates to get its off-track 2025 season back on course. The team has approved the new suspension, which will be ready to hit the track this summer, according to “Corriere della Sera.”
After passing engineering reviews, the new suspension has completed wind tunnel testing. It will be fitted on the SF-25 by the British Grand Prix, scheduled for the weekend of Sunday, July 6.
The Silverstone round will mark a crucial turning point in the season, one that could determine the fate of the Prancing Horse for at least the second half of the championship.
