The atmosphere in Maranello is far from ideal. Ferrari is struggling to understand the SF-25, and Frederic Vasseur has appeared visibly annoyed by the constant questions regarding updates. The Scuderia is expected to introduce a new rear suspension at Montmeló, along with a revised front wing following the implementation of the new technical directive on flexibility.
However, it seems the drivers are unaware of the suspension. In Thursday’s press conference at Imola, attended by the Italian and international media, Lewis Hamilton was surprised by a question about the expected benefit of the new component. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” was the seven-time Formula 1 world champion’s response, as he quickly tried to shift the topic.
Is it a strategic move, or is there more to it? What is certain is that Ferrari is not entirely pleased. According to information gathered by F1inGenerale, there is growing discontent within the Ferrari Racing Division due to the frequent presence of ‘moles’ leaking information outside the team.
Ferrari furious over presence of moles
This frustration was also evident in an interview given by Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur to journalists at the Imola media ring. “One question each because I’m leaving in twenty minutes,” the former Alfa Romeo boss snapped. “What I love about journalists is that I learn more here with you than during the whole weekend,” Frederic Vasseur added in response to a question about the potential benefits of the new rear suspension.
It’s a tense environment that certainly doesn’t help Ferrari at a time when calm is most needed. The Scuderia is trying to address the issues that have emerged at the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season and needs complete focus. In this context, the Maranello engineers would prefer to work without the fear that sensitive information might leak from within the team.
