Ferrari looks for answers for 2026: testing in Abu Dhabi with a modified suspension
During the Abu Dhabi test session, Ferrari will search for crucial answers with a view to 2026 thanks to an important modification applied to the suspension of the current car. The winter break will have to wait a little longer. The post-season test in Abu Dhabi will give rookie drivers some track time and allow teams to further evaluate the new tyres that will debut in 2026. To do this, however, the current Formula 1 cars must be adapted in order to replicate some of the technical changes that will appear on next year’s machinery.
Ferrari looks for answers ahead of 2026
Among the teams involved, Ferrari will naturally be present. The Scuderia will field Dino Beganovic alongside its two race drivers, who will each complete half a day of running. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will also have the opportunity to get an early feel for some of the characteristics they will later encounter on the 678 project, which the Maranello engineers have been developing since April.
To achieve this, the SF-25 will run with reduced aerodynamic load and with a modified rear suspension. According to reports from Italian journalist and F1 expert Franco Nugnes, Ferrari could reintroduce the original pull-rod layout with an updated arm. The team is therefore seeking confirmations regarding the rear-end structure of the car, especially in preparation for 2026. For next year’s machine, the pull-rod configuration is expected to return on both the front and rear suspension systems.
The holidays may not have started yet, but 2026 has already begun. Ferrari does not want – and cannot afford – to be caught unprepared. After a 2025 filled with difficulties, the regulatory changes appear to be the only real opportunity for redemption for the Frédéric Vasseur era, which so far has struggled to deliver concrete results.
