Abu Dhabi test 2025: the full line-up of all teams and their rookie choices
The Formula 1 teams are preparing for the Abu Dhabi test that will close the 2025 season, with every driver confirmed for the final on-track running of the year. Work for next season has already begun. Each team will follow a dedicated testing programme focused on the tyres that will be used under the incoming regulations. As part of the official structure for the 2025 Abu Dhabi test, every team must run one car driven by a race driver and one car assigned to a rookie.
The 2026 cars will be completely different from the current generation. For this reason, the team’s official drivers will take part in the test using the new Pirelli compounds while driving a mule car that reproduces key characteristics of next year’s machine. The rookies, instead, will get mileage in the 2025 car.
The on-track activity will begin tomorrow, 9 December, starting at 6:00 Italian time and continuing until 15:00. Teams will have access to all tyre compounds except the C1, which has been deemed unnecessary for this circuit. Updates on lap times and the running plans will follow throughout the day.
The Abu Dhabi test line-up
The Formula 1 teams have officially confirmed the line-up of drivers who will take part in the Abu Dhabi post-season test. Each team may only run one car at a time for the Pirelli programme. Teams that have opted to use two drivers will therefore split the workload between the morning session and the afternoon session.
