2006: Michael Schumacher wins a changing-weather race
The Shanghai race began in wet conditions that initially favoured Fernando Alonso and Renault. As the circuit dried, Michael Schumacher brought Ferrari into contention and eventually finished ahead of both Renault drivers.
Fernando Alonso took second, 3.121 seconds behind, with Giancarlo Fisichella third. The result drew Michael Schumacher level with Fernando Alonso on championship points before the final two rounds.
At the time, Shanghai was another important step in an active title fight. In retrospect, it also became the closing victory of a career that continued beyond his first retirement and later return to Formula 1.
