Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur is reportedly nearing an impressive deal that could further boost the Italian team’s future prospects. Since replacing Mattia Binotto as the leader of the Ferrari Racing Division, Fred Vasseur has orchestrated several significant moves, including securing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton for the next Formula 1 season.
Scuderia Ferrari has recently recruited key personnel from Mercedes, such as Loic Serra and Jerome d’Ambrosio, and there are rumors of a potential acquisition of outgoing Red Bull designer Adrian Newey, who is set to leave the reigning champions at the end of the current season.
The French manager is also on the verge of finalizing an exciting arrangement concerning Oliver Bearman, Ferrari’s most promising young talent. The Ferrari junior earned acclaim a few months ago when he stepped in for Carlos Sainz at this year’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, finishing seventh in his F1 debut and finishing ahead of top opponents such as Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton.
As recently confirmed by F1 reporter Lawrence Barretto, the Maranello team is close to an agreement with Haas that would see Oliver Bearman drive for the American team in the next Formula 1 campaign. Negotiations have progressed to the point where the deal is nearly finalized, with only minor details left to be resolved.
The Ferrari Driver Academy member has already had a stint with Haas, replacing Kevin Magnussen in the first free practice session for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at the Imola circuit. Haas team principal Ayao Kamatsu was highly impressed with Oliver Bearman’s performance, remarking on his display.

“I don’t think you can fault him. He’s done really well. All the way from the initial preparation, he’s been very professional, very, very easy to deal with in every single process, I have nothing to complain [about]. Today, with the calmness, procedures he understood, he understood the objectives of every single run. He didn’t put a foot wrong, really.” – the Japanese F1 engineer pointed out.

Oliver Bearman is set for another FP1 session with Haas in the final round of the championship, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which is set to take place in at the 5.281-kilometre Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island on Sunday, December 8. However, how he will handle the challenges of a full-time seat remains to be seen if his proposed move to Haas in 2025 materializes.
The 19-year-old is widely regarded as a future Ferrari driver, and the team from Maranello is hopeful that a stint with Haas will accelerate his development by giving him crucial experience in the most important motorsport series. This move could mirror the trajectory of Charles Leclerc, who spent his debut F1 season with Sauber before joining the Italian side the following season.
