Haas heading to Imola
After six races across Oceania, Asia and North America, Formula 1 returns to Europe and restarts at Imola for a triple-header where qualifying will be very important (the other two races are in Monte Carlo and Montmeló). For a team like Haas, which performs better on Sundays than on Saturdays, a step forward is needed to avoid losing ground after a very positive start to the season.
The team led by principal Ayao Komatsu sits sixth in the Constructors’ Championship and relies on the consistency of Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon to get the most out of this triple-header. Here’s what the drivers had to say ahead of Imola.
Oliver Bearman’s words
“I love Italy, so I’m really happy to be racing there,” Oliver Bearman said. “It’s another one of those historic races and I hope it’ll be another great weekend. I hope the weather holds, but I’m really excited to return to Imola: it’s a circuit with a lot of history, both good and bad, but I can’t wait to perform in front of the fans.” – the Ferrari junior explained ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend.
Esteban Ocon’s words
“It’s exciting to return to Imola, and to Europe, for the start of this triple-header. I have great memories of racing in Italy, especially from my karting days,” added Esteban Ocon. “We know how passionate the Italian fans are and we always feel their energy when we race here. The Imola track is very fast and flowing and poses a nice challenge for teams and drivers. In some sections it’s also quite technical, especially regarding curbs and traction. We’ve prepared well in the simulator ahead of the weekend and we’re hoping for another good qualifying to be in the fight for points on Sunday.”
