The Times Scoop
The news is certainly a major one: Anthony Hamilton is ready to join the FIA, becoming part of president Mohammed Ben Sulayem’s team, who will seek re-election for a new term in December.
The revelation came from The Times, which explained that Lewis Hamilton’s father has already been working with the Federation over the past 18 months as an integral part of the FIA’s young driver development program in the role of advisor.
His work has impressed Mohammed Ben Sulayem and his team so much that, during the upcoming FIA conference in Macau (scheduled for July 10–13), the Young Driver Development Pathway will be presented jointly by the president and Anthony Hamilton himself. The Briton’s goal is to support young talents in their development while protecting them from unscrupulous managers who could negatively influence their careers.
The Relationship Between Anthony, Lewis, and Mohammed Ben Sulayem
Anthony Hamilton managed Lewis’s career until 2010 (his fourth year at McLaren), and the two currently share a strong personal bond. Many will recall that Anthony was in the Ferrari garage at Fiorano during Lewis’s very first laps in red.
However, in recent years, Lewis Hamilton has been openly critical of Mohammed Ben Sulayem. In September 2024, he described the president’s remarks about rappers as “stereotypical and racially charged,” and back in March 2024, he pointed out that Mohammed Ben Sulayem never had his consent.
