After the possibility of rainfall on Friday, the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix could see drivers facing challenging conditions on the Marina Bay Street Circuit, with notably high humidity levels.
For the first time in quite a while in this Formula 1 season, drivers will compete in a night race, this time at Singapore’s iconic Marina Bay Circuit. The event represents a spectacular show for fans of the F1 Circus, especially during a critical moment in the championship that could influence both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ standings.
However, the weekend may not be particularly welcomed by the drivers. This is not only due to the constant focus required to avoid mistakes on a track that punishes the slightest error, but also because of the intense heat, which puts drivers’ physical endurance to the test. For this reason, the FIA has declared an “Heat Hazard,” signaling extreme heat conditions for the race. Consequently, teams will need to equip their drivers with cooling systems designed to help them withstand the high cockpit temperatures and avoid potential health issues.
Maximum temperatures, hovering around or slightly above 30°C, are expected during the practice sessions, when the highest chance of rainfall is predicted, according to AccuWeather.com. The risk of rain will significantly decrease during qualifying and the race, both held at night, but humidity will still be very high, exceeding 70% in these sessions.
