F1 Singapore GP: FIA forced to take action due to extreme weather
The FIA has been forced to implement special measures in response to the challenging weather conditions currently affecting Singapore. Every year, the Marina Bay weekend is already one of the toughest tests of the Formula 1 calendar, with high humidity pushing drivers to their physical limits. This time, however, the situation is even more complicated due to heavy rainfall hitting the area, which has forced the FIA to act quickly.
The FIA’s decisions against extreme weather
On Thursday morning, the Federation released two official statements concerning the weather conditions at the circuit. The first communication stated: “In accordance with article 26.19 of the sporting regulations and having received weather forecasts indicating that temperatures will exceed 31°C at certain points of the race, extreme heat risk is declared.”
The second announcement instead focused on the heavy rain currently affecting Marina Bay. “Given the adverse weather conditions, teams are authorized to close the doors of their garages.”
Uncertainty remains for the Singapore Grand Prix
It remains to be seen how the situation will develop in the coming hours and whether adjustments will be needed to the work program of the various categories. For now, the cancellation of the Grand Prix does not seem likely, but nothing can be ruled out completely. Much will depend on how the forecasts evolve over the next hours and days.
