After Lewis Hamilton chose to stay by his dog Roscoe’s side and skip the Mugello test, the 7-time world champion was flooded with insults
Lewis Hamilton decided to prioritize staying close to his beloved bulldog Roscoe. In recent days, the dog was struck by a severe case of pneumonia and placed into a medically induced coma. Because of this, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion skipped the scheduled Pirelli tyre tests for Ferrari at Mugello. In his place, alongside Charles Leclerc, it was Guanyu Zhou who stepped into the car. Instead of receiving understanding and support, Lewis Hamilton found himself overwhelmed by criticism and insults on social media, particularly from Ferrari fans. The British driver was eventually forced to delete his Instagram post to calm the heated reactions.
The comments under the post: “He must think about Ferrari!”
Lewis Hamilton had shared updates on Roscoe’s condition across his social profiles, asking fans to show compassion and support. To be with his dog, the Ferrari driver also skipped Milan Fashion Week in addition to the Mugello test. Underneath the Instagram post about Roscoe, however, several harsh comments appeared, with some users claiming he should “think about the Scuderia” instead of his pet, as if affection and professional duty could not coexist. That is certainly not the view of Ferrari itself, since Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur personally went to offer support to Roscoe.
Hamilton removed the post on Instagram
In order to prevent further controversy, Lewis Hamilton decided to remove the post from Instagram, although it remains visible on Facebook and on X (formerly Twitter). Even on Roscoe’s dedicated Instagram profile, @roscoelovescoco, there have been no updates on the bulldog’s current health condition.
