Ralf Schumacher has issued a strong warning to Ferrari: if the Formula 1 team fails to find a solid balance between Lewis Hamilton and his race engineer Riccardo Adami, “a separation at the end of the year would be the best solution.”
According to the former driver, the working relationship between the seven-time world champion and his race engineer has been complicated from the start, marked by misunderstandings and tense radio exchanges. Incidents such as the missed position swap with Charles Leclerc in Baku or heated strategic discussions in other races highlighted a partnership that risked undermining internal stability at Maranello.
However, in recent weekends, something seems to have changed. Lewis Hamilton and Riccardo Adami have shown signs of better understanding, with smoother and less tense communication compared to the beginning of the season. But for Ralf Schumacher this improvement conceals a danger: “Ferrari must address these issues internally, otherwise they risk self-destruction,” he stated in his podcast for Sky Germany.
The critical point, according to the ex-driver, is that the strengthening of the Hamilton–Adami relationship is happening at the cost of creating other frictions within the team. Some members are said to have expressed dissatisfaction with the way the British driver has been treated, especially after his public criticism of the team. If these dynamics are not managed with clarity and transparency, mutual trust could be compromised. “If trust were to break down, it would be a real shame; in that case, separation at the end of the year would be the best solution,” Ralf Schumacher reiterated.
The message is clear: Ferrari is standing at a crossroads. On one side, the Hamilton–Adami relationship shows encouraging signs. On the other, it could become the spark that ignites an internal conflict, further complicating an already difficult season.
