Taking advantage of the water irrigation system at the Fiorano track, Pirelli resumed testing of the 2026 wet tyres with Guanyu Zhou at the wheel of a specially modified SF-25. Today it will be Charles Leclerc’s turn to complete the session.
Guanyu Zhou yesterday began Pirelli’s two-day test at the Fiorano circuit, making his debut in a Ferrari. The Scuderia’s reserve driver drove an SF-25 in mule car configuration to accommodate tyres in 2026 dimensions and to simulate the downforce reduction expected for next year’s F1 cars.
The Chinese driver, together with engineers from Bicocca, worked on comparing various prototypes of intermediate and full wet tyres, making use of the irrigation system installed at Ferrari’s private track.
The 26-year-old from Shanghai completed a total of 159 laps, equivalent to 473 km — about a Grand Prix and a half. The overall fastest lap was 59.820, set on a set of slicks used early in the day for car setup validation. On intermediates, the fastest lap on the 2.976 km layout was 1:07.400.
Testing at this track will continue today, with Charles Leclerc taking over, while Lewis Hamilton, not particularly fond of test sessions, opted out.
