The Imola weekend will be a turning point for Ferrari’s season and will help determine if their development path is the correct one. Charles Leclerc, interviewed today in the Ferrari Motorhome at Imola, expressed his excitement about trying and evaluating the updates coming to the SF-24.
Ahead of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix weekend, Charles Leclerc didn’t hide his enthusiasm for testing the new updates on the Ferrari SF-24 single-seater which will hopefully reduce the gap to the Red Bull RB20.
Ferrari’s drivers highlighted some difficulties in handling the car during the early races of the season. The most evident issues were in slow corners, where Charles Leclerc admitted to struggling a bit. However, the development direction should have addressed this flaw, improving the already solid base of the SF-24.
“I don’t yet know exactly what the real outcome of this package will be; I hope it’s good,” Charles Leclerc admitted when asked about the updates. “So far, we’ve mainly tested it in the simulator on various tracks. Obviously, it’s a step forward. I’ve seen numbers on the internet that are much larger than what it actually is, so we need to stay grounded and take steps in the right direction gradually.” – he pointed out.
“That said, I hope the data we expected will be confirmed here at Imola. It’s not the ideal track for introducing updates, meaning we might not see the full improvement it can bring. We’ll need to wait for other tracks to better evaluate the package.” – the Monegasque driver continued, ahead of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc also spoke about the goal of the updates, reassuring everyone that they are not corrective but aim to enhance the SF-24’s performance.
“Of course, these updates were designed a long time ago, so they are not reactionary upgrades. They are just innovations meant to improve what is already a good car, and that was the main goal. During the filming day, we couldn’t try many things, but we understood from the initial simulator tests that it was the right direction.” – the Monegasque driver explained.

These words reflect Ferrari’s high expectations for this package, which has revolutionized the car’s external aerodynamics. Additionally, the most impactful changes will be underneath the car and won’t be visible unless there are incidents during the various sessions of the weekend.
