In the Ferrari conference at Imola, Charles Leclerc expressed hope to see Adrian Newey at Ferrari soon but believes “he won’t be the one dictating the direction.”
Adrian Newey has become a recurring topic in Ferrari press conferences. It was discussed in Miami and now again in Imola, where Charles Leclerc couldn’t avoid questions about the potential future of the British designer in red.
“I think every team would want Adrian on their team,” admitted the Monegasque driver. “Certainly having Newey would be an added value for us. It’s an opportunity, but he wouldn’t be the one dictating what happens in the coming years. We’ll see if we can get him on the team or not.” – he pointed out.
Regardless of the possible arrival of the former Red Bull designer, Imola will be a crucial weekend for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc emphasized how much the Maranello team is counting on the Italian weekend to prove the effectiveness of the new upgrade package.
“It’s important to remember that we are the team that has made the most progress in the last 7-8 months. Sure, McLaren had a significant leap forward in the last GP. Now it’s our turn with our upgrade package. Overall, the team has done an excellent job so far.”
Leclerc and the Shared Message with Hamilton
Returning to Adrian Newey, Charles Leclerc didn’t hide his desire to work with the British engineer in the future, echoing the sentiment expressed by Lewis Hamilton in the Miami conference. This indicates that Ferrari is trying, and will continue to try, to convince Adrian Newey for a “last dance in Maranello.”

“Certainly, Adrian is one of the engineers you would want to work with at some point,” Charles Leclerc confirmed. “We know each other. We talk from time to time, although without ever going into details so far. After all, he worked for Red Bull. As for the future… we’ll see if we can work together. I hope to do so one day; he’s a really interesting person.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
