Charles Leclerc provided more details about his split with Xavi Marcos and the arrival of Bryan Bozzi as his new race engineer.
The anticipation from fans and Formula One insiders for the Imola weekend is high for Ferrari, not only to see if the updates to the SF24 will allow the team to compete for victory but also to see Charles Leclerc’s new Ferrari race engineer in action.
A few days ago, the Maranello team officially announced the separation between Xavi Marcos and the Monegasque driver in a brief statement, indicating that Marcos would continue working for the Italian company but on different projects.
Bryan Bozzi has been chosen as his replacement. The Italian, who has served as Charles Leclerc’s performance engineer for years, will take his place on the pit wall for the first time at the upcoming Imola weekend.
A Decision Made by Xavi and the Team
Speaking about the new addition in the official press conference ahead of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc commented: “My relationship with Bryan? It has always been close. Obviously, he has worked as a performance engineer until now, so this is quite a big promotion.” – he pointed out.
“Once I understood the decision made by the team and Xavi, he was the perfect person for the role. I am very confident it will go very well from the start.” – the Monegasque added.

His response left the journalists in the press room a bit surprised, with Charles Leclerc clarifying that it wasn’t his decision to part ways with the Spanish engineer: “It was a decision made by Xavi and the team together. I became aware of it just after Miami. I’ve always had a great relationship with Xavi, everything was fine.” – the Ferrari driver continued.
Returning to his future collaboration with Bozzi, Charles Leclerc concluded, “I believe it will be just as good with Bryan. As I said, we’ve known each other for many years, so there’s nothing new to learn.”
“We already know how to work together. The role will be a bit different, but I am 100% confident that Bryan will perform it excellently and that we will work very well together.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
