The words of the Ferrari driver
On the eve of the Canadian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc addressed numerous topics, from the goals for this race weekend to Ferrari’s delicate moment. The Monegasque confirmed his full trust in team principal Frederic Vasseur. Below are his remarks (from video interviews on F1’s official website and Canadian broadcaster RDS).
Podium target
“If we do everything perfectly, we can aim for third place. Red Bull is faster than us, but they’re within reach, whereas McLaren is still out of reach even when we get everything right. We need updates, and I hope we won’t have to rely on luck anymore to get on the podium. In Spain, it’s true that we were in the right position to benefit from a bit of luck, but that doesn’t change the fact that we were lucky.”
Full trust in Fred Vasseur
“I have full trust in Fred Vasseur, we’re both lucky to work for Ferrari and we need to focus on that, giving our best. I can’t wait to get on track so people will stop talking about off-track matters.”
Updates
“They’re working and pushing at full speed in Maranello. I don’t know if they’ll arrive in Austria or at Silverstone.”
Focusing on 2026
“It’s a topic we’re discussing. At a certain point in the season, you reach a moment where you have to decide whether it’s time to focus on next year or if there’s still room to keep fighting for the current championship. Right now McLaren seems clearly ahead, but it’s also true that if you don’t understand what’s not working, it’s not easy to fully focus on 2026. The final decision is up to Fred Vasseur.” – the Monegasque driver concluded ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal.
