Charles Leclerc showed all his frustration after the qualifying result in the Netherlands: in the race, there is only one hope.
A weekend that has not been going well for Ferrari. The Zandvoort track does not suit the SF-25 at all and highlights all the car’s problems. Leclerc admitted he made a mistake during qualifying, and overtaking in the Netherlands is very difficult. The weather remains an unknown factor, which at this point could become a variable in Ferrari’s favor.
From the free practice sessions, we saw Charles and Lewis struggle compared to their rivals. This weekend, the Englishman seems slightly more comfortable than his teammate, despite the qualifying result. Tomorrow in the race it will be difficult to even approach the podium, but last year’s race could provide some lessons.
Leclerc and the Q3 mistake
Leclerc commented on the outcome of the Dutch GP qualifying to Sky Sport F1. “I cannot accept that I was terrible today,” said the Monegasque, clearly disappointed. Ferrari tried to find the ideal setup after FP3, but evidently this track puts the SF-25 under pressure.
“The track highlights all our weaknesses. From the start of the weekend, I have struggled. I tried many things on the car to find a solution. Different approaches, but nothing worked. That doesn’t excuse that in Q3 I did not put together a good lap. Today we could have achieved P4 if everything had gone perfectly, but I was not good enough.”
In 2024, a podium was achieved even starting from sixth position, but this year it will not be so easy: “Last year, we did everything perfectly during the race. If we do everything perfectly tomorrow and the others don’t execute the optimal strategy, it could be a target. This weekend, we won’t even discuss the two McLarens. Red Bull is strong, and then there are the others. We are in the other group, and it will be difficult to make a difference tomorrow.”
