Lewis Hamilton will start from seventh position with his Ferrari in the Dutch Grand Prix, after a qualifying session marked by signs of progress but also by evident challenges. On the Zandvoort circuit, the seven-time world champion showed improvement in his feeling with the car, but also admitted the limits of the SF-25 on such a technical and tricky track. Interviewed by Sky Sport F1, Hamilton gave a clear and honest overview of his Dutch weekend, balancing personal changes with the team’s ambitions.
Lewis Hamilton’s words after Dutch GP qualifying
After securing seventh place in qualifying, Hamilton shared his feelings, focusing above all on what has changed in his personal approach compared to recent races. Even though Ferrari is still not at the competitive level of Red Bull or McLaren, the British driver appeared calmer and more constructive: he confirmed that he feels better, explaining that after some reflection he changed his approach, which has made him more relaxed. According to him, it is a more positive attitude that helps him a lot.
Hamilton explained that the turning point of his weekend did not come so much from technical updates, but rather from an internal shift and mental preparation. He stressed that he had changed something in himself more than in the team. It was, in his words, a personal change aimed at getting closer to Charles Leclerc, which allowed him to feel more in sync with the car.
Although satisfied with the progress, the British driver did not hide the difficulties of the SF-25 on the Dutch circuit. He admitted that it is not the ideal track for this car, but he hopes that from this solid result Ferrari will still be able to fight with the rivals nearby. The gap, however, remains larger than expected.
Lewis Hamilton nevertheless wanted to recognize the effort and growth of the team during the weekend. He pointed out that they did a great job together, considering that at the start they were a second and a half behind in FP1, and then they closed the gap. For him, it is an important step forward, even though the team is aware that there is still a lot to do.
Finally, the focus is already on Sunday’s race, where the weather could play a crucial role. Hamilton said he hopes for mixed conditions, because that would be important to work together with Charles Leclerc to put pressure on the drivers ahead and bring home the maximum possible result.
