Charles Leclerc has admitted that he is not happy with Ferrari’s situation during the 2025 Formula 1 season, sending a clear message to the Maranello team. The Monegasque driver, during interviews with the media in Singapore, revealed his dissatisfaction with Ferrari’s current performance and made it clear that he expects more from the team.
The SF-25 is not the car Ferrari had hoped for. After a disappointing performance in Baku, a circuit considered favorable for the Scuderia due to its characteristics, Leclerc does not expect miracles. Arriving in Singapore, the driver took a very realistic approach, assessing the Marina Bay track without high expectations. Charles Leclerc believes Las Vegas could be a better test for the car, but Ferrari continues to struggle in low temperatures compared to Mercedes, who instead perform strongly. Here’s Charles Leclerc’s season assessment shared with the media.
Leclerc satisfied with himself but not with Ferrari
“I think the whole team is disappointed. If you’re Ferrari, you always aim to be at the top, not fighting for second, third, or fourth in the Constructors’ Championship. That’s not what we want. So we’re not happy, and I am not happy. We need to do better, this is very clear for everyone in the team. McLaren has dominated from the start of the season. From this perspective, it’s a bit disappointing. But personally, I’m happy. I’m very satisfied with how I’ve performed. I just wish we were fighting for victories.” The Ferrari driver has had to deal with a car that is difficult to handle and below expectations. Often, Charles Leclerc has had to try extreme setups to achieve the few podiums Ferrari has scored in 2025.
“At the start of the year, it was difficult to put everything together, especially in qualifying, when you really push the car to the limit with low fuel. That made everything very, very challenging. When you know that it should be your strength, but you can’t use it to push the car a bit further than we thought, it’s frustrating. But it’s part of the challenge. Not every season is completely linear from start to finish. You always face different challenges at different points in the season.” Despite this tough year, everything could change in 2026.
Ferrari has been working full throttle on the 678 project since April, and Fred Vasseur has outlined the key figures who will lead next year’s car development. Charles Leclerc remains confident. “I would like to win more. But we are working on it. The motivation is still very high. I’m not letting go. If anything, this pushes me to work even harder and try to bring Ferrari back to the top.”
