Fréd Vasseur is leading a major overhaul of Ferrari’s internal organization. The Team Principal is actively seeking additional resources and is now hunting for a “top” engineer with specific skills to strengthen the team for the 2026 car.
The Maranello team principal has implemented significant changes affecting key figures across various departments. The French manager is at the forefront of all decisions regarding Ferrari’s 2026 project, operating within a clearly defined pyramidal structure, but now the search is on for a “top” engineer with specialized knowledge.
Clear hierarchies established in Maranello
Frederic Vasseur has clarified the internal hierarchies at Ferrari. The recent hiring of Franck Sanchez as Head of Aerodynamic Development created a pyramidal trio. The former Sauber engineer is highly trusted by Vasseur and will work closely with Diego Tondi, Head of the Aerodynamic Department. Frederic Vasseur, Sanchez, and Loic Serra, Ferrari’s Technical Director Chassis, form the leadership trio for the 2026 project. This pyramidal structure was designed to clearly delineate responsibilities for the new car. Frederic Vasseur leads this triad, overseeing chassis and aerodynamics, and will have the final say on all technical decisions regarding the 678. Under his leadership, Ferrari has a fully French command structure. Now, however, the hunt for a “top” engineer begins. Here are the details.
A top-tier engineer with expertise in vehicle dynamics and tires
According to AutoRacer.it, another key figure working on the new car is Thomas Bouché, a French engineer currently serving as Head of the “Aero Performance” department. Fred Vasseur revealed that Ferrari has hired 60 people over the past 18 months, but no first-tier engineer has joined yet. As highlighted previously, it is challenging to recruit talent from British teams since their factories are located just a few kilometers apart. Moving to Maranello represents a significant life change, even for families, which is an important factor to consider. Despite these challenges, Frederic Vasseur continues his efforts.
AutoRacer.it reports that the Team Principal is seeking multiple top-tier engineers from the UK to strengthen the Italian team. One engineer in particular, specialized in vehicle dynamics and tires, is a priority for Frederic Vasseur and would occupy a leadership position. This area has historically shown significant weaknesses. The name in question could be Pierre Waché, Technical Director at Red Bull, who might take on the role of Chief Technical Officer (CTO). For months, the French manager has been trying to convince his fellow Frenchman, but so far without success. It was expected that, following his contract renewal, which had the support of the drivers, a massive internal restructuring would begin. Now, it remains to be seen whether this will yield positive results.
