We are now entering the week leading up to the Spanish Grand Prix at the 4.657-kilometre Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Carlos Sainz’s home race, where he hopes to perform well in front of his fans and redeem himself after the disastrous weekend in Montreal. The 2024 edition of the Barcelona Grand Prix will be even more special for the Spaniard, as it will be his last home race in red before parting ways with Ferrari at the end of the season, likely heading to Williams.
Equal treatment
Carlos admitted that he did not take well the call from Frederic Vasseur at the beginning of the year, in which he was informed of Lewis Hamilton‘s arrival in 2025, but he also revealed that he accepted the news philosophically, honoring the cause until the end.
As a guest on the show El Hormiguero, Carlos Sainz had the opportunity to reflect on his four years at Ferrari and his relationship with teammate Charles Leclerc: “Have Ferrari treated Charles and me the same way? Yes, always.”
“Honestly, in this regard, I can’t complain about the treatment I received at Ferrari. In every team, there are always moments of tension. Well, you always think they could have given me a hand here. I could have behaved a bit better, but this is racing. You turn the page and forget everything.” – the Spanish driver pointed out.
“The truth is that, for example, my teammate and I are friends off the track, we get along very well. We have a great relationship and form an excellent team. I believe that if there is something that has worked and continues to work at Ferrari, it is the two drivers. We get along very well, win races, stand on the podium, and, above all, work together as a team.” – Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz concluded.
