Italian racing driver Antonio Giovinazzi has officially renewed his contract with Scuderia Ferrari, securing a multi-year agreement that will see him continue to represent the Maranello-based team both in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and as the official reserve driver in Formula 1.
The 31-year-old driver from Martina Franca, in the Apulia region of southern Italy, will remain a key figure for Ferrari across multiple racing categories. His contract, previously set to expire at the end of the 2025 season, has now been extended, confirming his dual commitment to endurance racing and Formula 1 support duties. The agreement solidifies his ongoing involvement with the Prancing Horse and underlines Ferrari’s trust in his experience and capabilities.
Antonio Giovinazzi, who is managed by the MSM Group agency led by Enrico Zanarini, will continue to race for Ferrari in long-distance endurance events while also serving as the official stand-in for the main Formula 1 race drivers. His role as reserve driver means he will be on standby to replace Charles Leclerc or Lewis Hamilton should the need arise during any race weekend in the Formula 1 World Championship.
Giovinazzi has enjoyed significant success in the world of endurance racing. In 2023, he claimed victory at the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans behind the wheel of the No. 51 Ferrari 499P, sharing the car with teammates James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi. The trio has remained a formidable team and is currently leading the driver standings in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship.
Together, they have competed in 20 races in the prestigious Hypercar class of the WEC, achieving major wins including dominant performances at Imola and Spa-Francorchamps during the current season. Antonio Giovinazzi also secured three Hyperpole positions—pole position in the Hypercar category—at the same circuits, as well as in Austin in 2024. In total, he has stood on the podium seven times in this top-level endurance category.
Antonio Giovinazzi’s connection with Ferrari dates back to 2017, when he was first signed as the third driver for the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team. He was later loaned to Sauber-Alfa Romeo, where he raced in Formula 1 from 2019 to 2021. In 2018, Giovinazzi made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, driving a Ferrari 488 GTE for AF Corse.
“Eight years ago, my journey with Ferrari began. For me, Ferrari is much more than just a racing team—it’s a family,” said Antonio Giovinazzi, who is currently traveling to Brazil to compete in the upcoming 6 Hours of São Paulo, part of the FIA WEC calendar. “Renewing today means continuing a challenge that excites me every day, in an environment where people, teamwork, and ambition truly matter.”
“Being a factory driver in the FIA World Endurance Championship and third driver in Formula 1 is a responsibility I embrace with immense pride and motivation. I want to thank Ferrari for once again placing their trust in me—growing within this team, wearing these colors, is something truly special.”
“I can’t wait to write the next chapters of this story, with the same commitment, passion, and hunger for results that have always driven me.”
