As usual after every Grand Prix, former Scuderia Ferrari engineer Luigi Mazzola commented on the main events of yesterday’s Formula 1 race in the Netherlands, won by the home driver Max Verstappen. In doing so, he also focused on the situation of the Maranello team, the protagonist of yet another weekend below expectations. Here are his thoughts:
Dutch GP, Luigi Mazzola’s comments after the Zandvoort weekend
“A lively race thanks to the rain. Max Verstappen as usual excelled in performance, Fernando Alonso was wonderful and even had the fastest lap,” observes Luigi Mazzola in a post published through his social media channels. He then adds: “Great race from Gasly who rightfully secured the podium. McLaren and Mercedes got lost in tire changes, but Hamilton managed to climb back up to sixth position.”
Turning to Ferrari, Luigi Mazzola emphasizes: “It confirmed the major issues with load and aerodynamic balance; it was overtaken on the track by Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly when a podium with Carlos Sainz was possible. Even this year, the developments haven’t been effective, I believe there’s a lack of understanding about how to intervene to improve the car.”
