Lewis Hamilton’s first Ferrari photo goes viral
The first images of Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari quickly spread worldwide. His pinstripe double-breasted suit, the elegant black coat, the legendary red F40 in the background, and the symbolic presence of the seven windows and door of Enzo Ferrari’s Fiorano office made his debut shot as an official Ferrari driver an instant classic. The impact was reflected in record-breaking engagement numbers for Formula 1 communications in the social media era, highlighting the unprecedented union between the most successful driver and the most successful team in Grand Prix history.
The reaction of an ex: Toto Wolff’s comment
A photograph that, while not appreciated by everyone, was impossible to ignore—especially for those who had shared years of triumphs and heartbreaks alongside Lewis Hamilton. Toto Wolff, speaking at the Autosport Awards ceremony, did not hesitate to call the image “iconic” and likened Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes to an “amicable divorce.”
“It’s a bit like when you go through a friendly divorce,” the 53-year-old Austrian manager explained during the awards evening, “and everything is fine, but then you see your ex-partner for the first time with her new friend… But I’m still very, very happy for him, and I’ve already told him that those photos they took of him are iconic. Everything was meticulously staged, but I’m not surprised—that’s Lewis.”
However, Toto Wolff is not dwelling on the past. He is already looking forward to an exciting season with George Russell officially taking the lead at Mercedes and rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli eager to impress. “I’m super excited about our new situation. We had 12 fantastic years with Lewis, but George has delivered superb performances over the last three seasons, and now Kimi is joining as well. He’s a young lion with immense talent, though he still has a lot to learn.” – the Mercedes team principal concluded.
