With just a few weeks left before the new season takes shape, the competition remains wide open based on how 2024 ended. McLaren will arrive at the Bahrain tests as the team to beat after winning the last Constructors’ Championship. However, with 2025 marking the final year of the current technical regulations, it’s unlikely that any single team will enjoy a dominant advantage.
The hope is that two or more teams will be in the title fight, delivering 24 thrilling races for fans and insiders alike. This vision is shared by most team principals, including Christian Horner. The Red Bull boss, who in 2025 must also convince Max Verstappen to resist the advances of Aston Martin (and Mercedes), expects a fiercely contested season.
Horner: “In 2025, four teams will be highly competitive”
Speaking at the Autosport Awards, Christian Horner gave his outlook on the upcoming season: “It will be very close, with four extremely competitive teams. It’s hard to pick a favorite. McLaren will be strong, Ferrari will be strong, and Mercedes will have something to prove. It could be a spectacular season.”
He also commented on Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari: “I saw some of his photos, and I think red suits him. It’s great for Formula 1—Lewis Hamilton in a Ferrari can be a box-office hit. It’s yet another dynamic that could make this season truly exciting!”
