Scuderia Ferrari is preparing to debut the new rear suspension system for their 2025 SF-25 Formula 1 car during a filming day scheduled at the Mugello circuit. Here are the likely dates for this important test session. As previously announced, the suspension upgrade will not be introduced at the Silverstone Grand Prix, but instead will make its competitive debut during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend at Spa-Francorchamps.
Before the new suspension package is directly taken to the track for race weekend testing, Ferrari will first trial it during a controlled filming day. The Mugello circuit has been selected as the venue for this crucial evaluation, which is expected to take place in the days leading up to the Spa race weekend, likely between July 25th and 27th. The Belgian Grand Prix will also be the penultimate race before the summer break in the 2025 Formula 1 calendar.
Regarding the filming day at Fiorano for the Ferrari SF-25’s new suspension, the available dates prior to the Spa weekend are quite limited. The filming day will almost certainly occur on a day when the Mugello circuit is free of scheduled events. Notably, the track calendar currently shows no events on July 8th, 9th, and 10th, which follow immediately after the Silverstone race weekend. Additionally, July 16th and 17th are also free of scheduled activity.
Therefore, the filming day will most likely take place on one of these open dates. It remains to be decided whether Ferrari will conduct the filming day immediately after the British Grand Prix or choose to wait a few more days before testing the new suspension system.
If the suspension component is ready ahead of schedule, it is not unlikely that its first outing will be on July 8th, allowing the team more time to analyze data and fine-tune their simulator settings with the new information.
Initially, the new suspension was planned to debut at Silverstone, but Ferrari opted to delay its introduction. This decision highlights the importance of the filming day’s results, which will provide critical feedback. According to reports from the well-informed Italian website Autoracer, this filming day will take place at the Mugello circuit during the interval between the Silverstone and Spa race weekends.
Following the recent introduction of the new floor package at the Austrian Grand Prix, Ferrari continues to develop the SF-25 throughout the season, even as it begins to turn its attention toward the 2026 Formula 1 campaign. Whether the new suspension will represent a further step forward both for immediate performance and future development remains to be seen.
