Carlo Vanzini, on his YouTube channel, shared a lengthy reflection on Ferrari’s current situation and offered a suggestion to the Maranello team.
The well-known Italian Sky Sport F1 commentator, Carlo Vanzini, published a video on his YouTube channel in which he commented on the events of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. In this video, the Italian journalist focused on Ferrari’s particular moment. A lot of noise surrounds the Maranello team these days, from the lack of results to the uncertainty about Fred Vasseur’s future. According to Vanzini, however, Ferrari should make some changes to try to bring the Prancing Horse back to the top.
According to Carlo Vanzini, Ferrari needs to change its mentality. But why? The Italian commentator believes that what the Maranello team lacks is the kind of spirit found at Red Bull, which he describes as a “racer” mentality. Referring to the Canadian Grand Prix and Ferrari’s strategy for Charles Leclerc, Carlo Vanzini admitted: “You run your race, your strategy. But follow what Charles Leclerc is saying—he’s managing the tyres phenomenally? You know very well the car is lighter, the track has more rubber laid down? You have plenty of elements—follow him. What’s the worst that could happen? He finishes sixth. Nothing would have changed.”
Carlo Vanzini then added: “Let’s say he followed Charles Leclerc’s strategy and instead of finishing sixth—then fifth after Lando Norris took himself out—he finished out of the points, so what? At least you tried, you created some excitement. At least show that you’re racing. That you’re a racer.”
Beyond the data
The Sky Sport F1 voice urges the entire Ferrari team to go beyond the data: “There are moments when you have to lift your head from the computers and breathe in the spirit of taking a chance and doing something.” Vanzini concluded: “So at a time when you’re out of the championship fight, I’d even run a race with the engine at full power—if the engine blows up? So be it. But I gave energy, emotion. Energy to the team.”
