The Ferrari driver reiterated his desire to focus solely on the track
People always talk about Ferrari
The lead-up to the Montreal weekend was marked, for Ferrari, by media rumours about a possible departure of Frederic Vasseur and alleged doubts from Charles Leclerc. The Maranello team principal then raised his voice in the press conference and with the media, shifting attention to the team members and calling for greater respect for them.
The on-track results were not ideal, with the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton finishing no higher than fifth and sixth place.
Charles Leclerc explains
In the post-race press conference, Fred Vasseur further clarified his stance: “If we are distracted and not focused on the right things, then we will lose.”
A similar point was made by Charles Leclerc at the end of the race: “I’m frustrated that I didn’t put everything together this weekend. But aside from that, everything around me doesn’t influence me.”
The Monegasque, who on Thursday in Montreal had sighed: “That’s how it works at Ferrari and it’s always been that way,” later added: “The team really knows where I stand and what I want to do, and that’s what matters most to me. Of course, when there are rumours going around, it can create a bit of distraction, but I don’t think we’ve been affected by it. In the end, they’re just rumours, and I’d rather focus simply on our work. We’re not here to prove someone wrong or anything like that,” Charles Leclerc concluded.
