Mexican GP: Debut of the New Special Mariachi-Style Intro
It will be a decidedly “caliente” weekend as Formula 1 gears up for the Mexican Grand Prix, starting with FP1 tomorrow at 20:30 Italian time. The entire Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez will be adorned in the colors of the Mexican flag to rally behind their local idol, who is at least expected to secure a podium finish in front of his fans.
The disqualification suffered by Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in the last Grand Prix in Austin has breathed fresh air into the native of Guadalajara. His lead would have further narrowed if the Mercedes driver had held onto his second-place finish. However, Perez now enjoys a +39 point lead over the British driver, with four races to go.
The fervor of Mexican fans is expected to be overwhelming, to the extent that Red Bull has decided to provide additional security for its other driver, Max Verstappen. The Dutchman will have bodyguards by his side throughout the weekend after receiving some threats on social media.
Sergio Perez, concerned about potential repercussions, has urged his fans to behave appropriately, stating, “Mexico is the most important weekend of the season for me. I can’t wait for my home race. The support in Austin this past weekend was amazing, so I can’t even imagine how it will be in Mexico. It will be very special. I want Mexico to come and support the entire Red Bull team, not just me.”
Meanwhile, Formula 1 revs up the excitement with a new intro, featuring the usual soundtrack accompanying the opening titles but with typical Mexican trumpets replacing the traditional melody. ahead of the 2023 Mexican Grand Prix.
