So the likelihood of the teams all sticking to the exact meaning of the rules is highly unlikely. Formula 1 engineers are geniuses’ at figuring out cheeky ways to find performance where the rules were supposed to limit it.
Brawn 2009 with the double-diffuser and genius front wing, Mercedes in 2014 with the split Turbo and Ferrari in the early 2000s.
And all of those came after big rule changes – and we’re about to see one of the biggest rule changes in Formula 1 history – so are we going to see some epic ‘Silver-Bullet’ solutions for massive performance?
