Scuderia Ferrari junior Robert Shwartzman concluded the Maranello team’s private test in Fiorano on Friday. He completed 121 laps, equating to 361 kilometres.
Fog shrouded the first corner and delayed the start of proceedings initially before the Formula 2 race winner headed out.
Visibility gradually improved and Robert Shwartzman started his day’s work around 10. The Italian side made the most of the circuit conditions which went from damp to completely dry by midday when the sun appeared, to test several settings affecting the balance of the car, changing them as the track dried out with each passing lap. The Ferrari Driver Academy member also continued to get a better understanding of the various car procedures.

Dedication and a desire to learn.
Robert Shwartzman was very happy with how things went at the wheel of the SF71H and for the opportunity of driving the 2018 Formula 1 car on two occasions this week: “These past few days, I have driven my first laps as a Scuderia test driver and I cannot deny I am very proud of my role. It’s always nice to drive a Formula 1 car and I hope there will be further opportunities during the year. My approach to the season will be completely different this year, as I am not taking part in any championship. I am completely available to the team, with whom I want to be fully immersed as there is a lot to learn. My aim is to get to race in Formula 1 and I think that the test driver role is the best way to get there. When the time comes, I want to be ready.” – Robert Shwartzman said, as reported by the Maranello team’s official website.
Scuderia Ferrari is now focused on finalizing the development work required for the 2022 Formula 1 car, which will be unveiled on February 17. Six days of pre-season testing are scheduled ahead of the start of the championship.
