A silver wing. This is the symbol chosen to represent the winner’s trophy and enhance the return of the Las Vegas Grand Prix to the Formula 1 calendar after over forty years of absence. We are now just a week away from the start of the first free practice session, and the final preparations, both on and off the track, are nearing completion.
A silver wing symbolizes the Las Vegas GP trophy
After revealing the layout of the circuit curbs, it’s time to unveil the trophy that the winner will lift next Sunday to celebrate the historic victory in the Las Vegas GP, returning after an absence from the Formula 1 calendar that lasted over 40 years.
It was Michele Alboreto on Tyrrell who won the last edition of the Caesars Palace Grand Prix in 1982, ahead of John Watson and Eddie Cheever. Formula 1 has, of course, changed radically since the 80s, and here we are today celebrating the dominance of Max Verstappen, fresh from his third career world title won just a few weeks ago.
The Dutch driver, who achieved the incredible record of 17 victories in a single season, is the clear favorite for the Nevada stage as well. Winning in Las Vegas would also allow him to secure three first-place finishes in the three Grand Prix races held in the United States this year.
Max Verstappen has already had the opportunity to lift unique trophies in 2023, such as the innovative “Kiss-activated trophy” at the Suzuka GP, which used a special technology developed by Lenovo that activated the colors of the winner’s national flag with a kiss on the cup.
For Las Vegas, there won’t be any particular technology, but the trophy will take the form of a silver wing, which can also illuminate with different shades, ranging from blue to pink. The official Las Vegas GP account wanted to reveal more details about the making of the cup through a short video posted on social media.
