Lewis Hamilton can win again with Ferrari: Valtteri Bottas is convinced, but admits that “only time will tell”
No podiums, no victories yet — but Ferrari fans should still believe in Lewis Hamilton. Former teammate Valtteri Bottas spoke about the British driver’s difficult first season with the Scuderia and his ongoing adaptation to life in Maranello. In an interview with Crash.net, the Finnish driver acknowledged the challenges Hamilton has faced. So far, it has been the toughest season of his career, but Bottas believes patience is key when it comes to the seven-time World Champion.
Ferrari is currently enduring one of its most inconsistent seasons in recent years. The expectations at the start of the campaign were high, with many hoping for a close title fight that would bring the championship battle down to the wire. However, the reality has been very different. McLaren has dominated much of the year, while Ferrari’s SF-25 has only occasionally managed to fight at the front.
The car is competitive but not outstanding. It struggles to perform perfectly under any conditions and often falls victim to the sudden improvements of its rivals. While Red Bull and Mercedes have made clear progress thanks to their latest updates, Ferrari seems to have fallen behind. That lack of consistency has been reflected in the drivers’ results — neither Charles Leclerc nor Lewis Hamilton has won a race so far. However, Charles Leclerc has collected five podiums, while Lewis Hamilton is still waiting for his first top-three finish in red.
Bottas: “Hamilton deserves to win again”
Speaking to Crash.net, Valtteri Bottas — who was Lewis Hamilton’s teammate at Mercedes from 2017 to 2021 — opened up about the British driver’s current experience with Ferrari. “I really hope he gets back to the level he used to be at. Only time will tell. He’s had some positive moments, but also a bit of bad luck. It’s not easy to change teams after so many years at Brackley, where he was the team’s leading figure,” Valtteri Bottas said.
“Now he’s working in a very different environment,” the Finnish driver added. “I can’t really say much about it, but I truly hope he’ll start winning again because he still deserves big results in this sport.”
Valtteri Bottas’s words will come as reassurance for Ferrari fans, who continue to believe in Lewis Hamilton’s ability to turn things around. Despite the slow start to his adventure in red, both his experience and determination could soon make the difference. With the season still open and new updates expected in the coming races, Ferrari supporters will be hoping Valtteri Bottas’s prediction proves right — that Lewis Hamilton will return to the top step of the podium where he truly belongs.
