In the UK, there is little doubt about Lewis Hamilton’s future at Ferrari and what may happen at the end of next season. Opinions circulating in recent days are already pointing toward significant changes.
Lewis Hamilton’s first season with Ferrari has presented a multitude of unexpected difficulties. The seven-time world champion has struggled to fully adapt to his new environment, surprising many. Across the Channel, speculation is already growing: will the British driver leave Maranello?
Some challenges were anticipated due to Lewis Hamilton’s adaptation to Ferrari. However, at the end of his first year in red, he has yet to find the key to rediscover his former self. Not all the blame lies with him: the Maranello team has made life far from easy with a SF-25 that is particularly difficult to drive and extract performance from. Looking ahead to the next few years, questions about his future persist.
The future of #44 in red?
“It is as certain as the rising sun that Oliver Bearman will replace Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari. I believe this is clear. We don’t yet know if Charles Leclerc will stay long-term. But it is Ferrari’s style to let their talents mature in smaller teams and then promote them, just like what happened with Leclerc,” said Ted Kravitz, the British journalist for Sky Sports F1. The young Haas driver has made significant progress this season, showing that he has the potential to become a Ferrari driver, though it is still too early to make definitive predictions. Next year’s new regulations could reshuffle the deck entirely. Gunther Steiner shares a similar view.
“If Hamilton is not up to the competition next year, then he should be replaced. Ollie is doing an incredible job, showing his true worth. He made mistakes at the start of the season, but now he’s almost flawless. He’s outperforming Esteban Ocon, who is a much more experienced and highly paid driver. He leaves him behind. If Ferrari does not offer him a seat in 2027, I’m sure he will find a place in another top team. He won’t stay long where he is; it’s clear what he is capable of. Watching him on track is fantastic,” Steiner added.
The upcoming season will be crucial in observing how this situation develops, with fans hoping to see Ferrari fighting for the top positions once again.
