The 2026 season will bring major changes with the introduction of new regulations, and former HAAS team principal Günther Steiner urges Ferrari to remain calm and follow his advice. The upcoming year carries many uncertainties as teams have not yet been able to test the new cars adapted to the regulations that will come into effect next season. Every team has had to start from a blank slate to design their cars for 2026. Speaking about the next F1 season, Günther Steiner offered guidance specifically for Ferrari.
With four races remaining in 2025, Ferrari has yet to secure a Grand Prix victory. The hope for the Maranello team is to reverse this trend soon.
A key word for Ferrari: stability
In an interview with casino.org, Günther Steiner emphasized Ferrari’s need to find “stability and calm.” He also addressed rumors circulating during this F1 season suggesting Fred Vasseur could be leaving Ferrari: “They are currently second in the Constructors’ Championship, but the situation is very close. Second place wouldn’t be a bad result this year, but it is still not enough for an organization like Ferrari. I think Fred [Vasseur] will have time and the whole of 2026 with the complete new regulations. If next year they are not competitive, I believe something will happen inside the team.” – the Italian and American motorsport engineer pointed out.
Günther Steiner added: “It would be a mistake to put someone new in that position now. The new regulations will be difficult for everyone, and Ferrari will have been planning 2026 for a long time. In Formula 1, everything starts very early. That process has likely already begun. Let’s see what they can produce and judge from there, because Fred [Vasseur] inherited what he inherited. Ferrari needs stability and calm right now, not a change in such an important position.” – the former Haas team boss concluded.
