After his outstanding performance in the ATP Finals in Turin and bringing the Davis Cup back to Italy after 47 years, Jannik Sinner has become a true star not only within the tennis world. After being bestowed with the title ‘Friend of F1,’ Stefano Domenicali has explained the details of his new role as an ambassador for the premier class in the 2024 season, aiming to attract more people from other sports to become passionate about Formula 1.
Jannik Sinner as a Formula 1 Ambassador in 2024
“Being Italian, I have Formula 1 in my blood,” declared the number 4 in the ATP rankings, who recently visited the Ferrari Factory in Maranello and the Ferrari Museum.
“I couldn’t be more excited to work not only with the best engine brand but also with the best sports platform in the world. I am honored to have received this opportunity, and I am really excited to be a ‘Friend of F1.'”
“In simple terms, I love cars, motorsports, and the excitement of racing and competing. One of the main reasons I love F1, whether it’s watching, go-karting with my friends, or racing in a simulator, is because I believe there are many synergies between tennis and racing. I think in both sports, it’s about the 1%, and it’s the small details that make the difference.”
Speaking on the show “La Politica nel Pallone,” the CEO of Formula 1 explained in more detail what Jannik Sinner’s role will entail in 2024: “I’ve known Jannik for a long time. He is a guy who is growing with a style that I have always liked. Few words and many deeds.”

“Since he is a racing enthusiast, our relationship goes back a while, and we thought of involving two worlds that may seem distant but need to be close.” – the former Ferrari team principal added.
“The world of sports must increasingly connect with positive examples. When we talked this summer, we discussed finding a solution to be ambassadors for a sport that perhaps doesn’t have real F1 enthusiasts among tennis fans. So, this is an opportunity that I believe will help us gain recognition in new territories. This is our new philosophy. We must attract people who, perhaps initially, seemed uninterested in Formula 1 but have been drawn in. The expansion of our activities with Jannik in the future is connected to this new strategy. I would like to carry forward this example in other contexts as well.” – he pointed out in the recent interview.
Finally, Stefano Domenicali provided a preview for the upcoming season: “He must, of course, be focused on his goal, which is very clear to everyone, to continue this winning streak, to continue to assert himself.”
“And then, together, we will talk about Formula One. He will come to some Grand Prix if the schedule allows, and we will do things together to attract young people who are not yet interested in F1.” – the Formula 1 chief executive officer concluded.
