Despite a year of absolute dominance, the three-time world champion doesn’t seem to want to take a significant rest. Max Verstappen has immediately returned to action, doing so at Portimão, where he took to the track in a Ferrari 296 GT3 thanks to Verstappen.com Racing. The Dutchman has never hidden his great passion for GT racing. One of his goals is to create his own team in GT3.
Max Verstappen in a Ferrari, but with the GT3
Fred Vasseur recently responded with a “never say never” to the question of Max Verstappen’s possible move to Ferrari. A few days later, we can indeed see the three-time world champion on the track with a Prancing Horse, although not in an F1 car.
The Red Bull driver took laps in the 296 GT3 in a private test organized by his Verstappen.com Racing. The Dutchman seems to have greatly enjoyed the experience of driving the GT. In fact, on his social media profiles, he commented: “It’s nice to be back on the track. Good times!” Max’s father, Jos, who is a standard-bearer for Verstappen.com in rallying, was also present at the test.
What is Verstappen.com Racing?
Last year, the Dutch driver, in collaboration with Red Bull, created Verstappen.com Racing. The Dutchman’s goal is to connect the worlds of real and virtual racing. This way, one could enter motorsport not only through karting, a costly path, but also through virtual competitions.
Currently, Verstappen.com Racing sponsors Thierry Vermeulen, who was also at Portimão to test with Max, in the DTM and GTWC Europe Sprint. The Dutch driver races for Emil Frey Racing, driving a Ferrari 296 GT3 branded with Max Verstappen’s logo.

The three-time world champion hopes to get two cars on the track in 2025. Perhaps, who knows, when he decides to retire from F1, Verstappen could transition to a career in the world of endurance racing. The Dutchman has never made a secret of his passion and dreams of competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, perhaps in a dream team with Fernando Alonso.
