United States Grand Prix Facts:
No country has had so many Grand Prix venues, nine in all. Races have been held at Sebring, Florida (1959); Riverside, California (1960); Watkins Glen, New York (20 between 1961 and 1980); the series fourth shortest circuit ever, Long Beach, California (eight between 1976 and 1983); Las Vegas, Nevada (1981, 1982); Detroit, Michigan (seven between 1982 and 1988); Dallas, Texas (1984) and Phoenix, Arizona (1989 to 1991) and Miami (2022).
With his P7 last year in the United States Grand Prix, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz maintained his 100 percent point-scoring record at COTA in his 6th Austin Formula 1 start.
The current COTA circuit was completed at a cost of around $400m USD and welcomed 117,429 race-day fans for its inaugural F1 race in November 2012.
The 3.427-mile (5.515 km) circuit is situated on 890 acres (3.6 km2) and is located 14 miles (22km) southeast of central Austin. It has a challenging, undulating layout with a high point on the apex of the opening corner
Circuit of The Americas is one of only five anti-clockwise tracks on the current F1 calendar (the others are Baku, Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Brazil). It’s also one of the hilliest tracks, with a difference of 30.9 meters between the lowest and highest points.
Kimi Raikkonen won the 2018 US Grand Prix for Scuderia Ferrari after a 114-race win drought; the longest such drought in Formula 1 history!
