British Formula One pit-lane reporter Ted Kravitz, a pundit for Sky Sports F1, has drawn attention to Haas as they gear up for the United States Grand Prix in Austin and beyond, in this final part of the 2023 Formula 1 campaign. The American team has made notable end-of-season upgrades, signaling a shift in their approach.
Haas, an American outfit, has opted to depart from the Ferrari concept they’ve been adhering to since the 2022 Formula 1 rule changes. Instead, they are embracing Red Bull’s concept following the latter’s dominant championship.
This strategic change will become evident starting with this weekend’s race in Austin. The team is introducing a surprisingly substantial upgrade for this stage of the season. Team principal Guenther Steiner emphasized that this move is aimed at providing the team with much-needed stability.
The decision to move away from Ferrari’s design philosophy marks a significant shift and could be seen as a setback for the longstanding close relationship between Haas and Ferrari, which they are now bypassing due to Red Bull’s success.
Currently, Haas sits in ninth place in the Constructors’ Championship after a challenging season where they’ve garnered only 12 points in the first 17 races.

Despite the tough year, Haas remains optimistic about the remainder of the 2023 campaign and is targeting a seventh-place finish. Williams currently holds that position with 23 points. Ted Kravitz has shed light on the potential impact of these upcoming upgrades to the Haas car in Austin.
“Guenther Steiner was talking about how they’ve got a new concept for next year,” he explained in a discussion for Sky Sports F1 during the Austin weekend – “Haas are going down the Red Bull concept, they’re going to abandon following Ferrari on their concept and they’re going to go purely Red Bull concept and the first elements of that – the upgrades, are going to be at the US Grand Prix in Austin. So, watch out for Haas on the up.” – the British Formula One pit-lane reporter concluded.
