The seven-time world champion arrived in Maranello with enormous expectations. The goal was singular and very clear: to continue Ferrari’s momentum from 2024 and return the team to the top of the world. So far, Hamilton has not shone, and Ferrari has shown more problems than expected.
Ferrari, which held second place in the Constructors’ Championship for most of the season, has now slipped to fourth with only three races remaining. Charles Leclerc, with seven podiums, has been the team’s only positive point. This situation has, however, increased the pressure on Lewis Hamilton, who remains without a podium finish in a race. The Briton’s only Ferrari victory in 2025 came in the sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix.
Schumacher did not hesitate to criticize Lewis Hamilton further: “This year, he has tended to watch and do nothing. He simply has not been good enough. I believe Ferrari expected more from him, as did John Elkann. His name boosted attention, but his results did not.”
Despite receiving all this criticism, it is worth noting that Lewis Hamilton has repeatedly prepared detailed reports throughout the season to highlight areas where the Ferrari car had issues. According to Ralf Schumacher, however, this is still not enough: Lewis Hamilton needs to do more to influence the Maranello team’s season.
