Rosberg and Michael Schumacher stories
Since retiring after winning the 2016 world championship, Nico Rosberg has often been seen in the Formula 1 paddock, serving as an analyst for various Sky outlets. His commentary is direct and honest, and the former driver frequently references episodes from his racing career. One of his recurring stories revolves around the psychological games Michael Schumacher played against him during the 2010-2012 period, when they shared the Mercedes garage.
In particular, Nico Rosberg enjoys recounting the anecdote about the extended bathroom breaks of the seven-time world champion, which he claims were deliberately timed to unsettle his teammate just before the start of a Grand Prix. This story, first shared publicly in 2017, has been repeated multiple times, including during 2025, making it a staple in Rosberg’s collection of racing tales.
Ralf’s sharp response
In a recent interview with German outlet Sport1, Michael’s brother, Ralf Schumacher, decided to respond directly to Nico Rosberg, seemingly tired of hearing the same anecdotes repeatedly. Ralf Schumacher remarked: “He keeps telling stories about my brother, about supposed psychological games in bathrooms or parking areas. I know Michael, and at the time he was in a completely different phase of his career. In the end, Nico simply should have pushed harder. Being behind a 43-year-old driver in Monaco says it all…” The German ended with a sharp jab, referring to Michael’s pole position at Monte Carlo in 2012.
