The 2020 Canadian Grand Prix could eventually take place in October. The news might come as a surprise given the fact that it was thought unlikely there would a race in Montreal this year, but it seems that the investors in Montreal are willing to invest in order to get some economic benefits, even if they will not be as impressive as in mid-June. At least one racing website in Canada (poleposition.ca) is reporting today that the race will soon be announced for Oct. 11, during the country’s traditional Thanksgiving weekend.
Currently, the three North American F1 races originally slated for Montreal (June 14), Austin, Texas (Oct. 25), and Mexico City (Nov. 1) are not listed on the official F1 schedule page on the series website. Montreal is officially postponed (not yet canceled), while it’s been quiet on the Austin and Mexico City fronts.
In October, Montreal is less busy than summer, but the severe winter weather is yet to arrive. The average temperature is a chilly 48 degrees, with the average high being only 57 degrees. The average low is 39 degrees, so getting temperature into tires could be a problem. There is also an average of 10 wet days in the month and snow is not unheard of.
